EFD Lottery: Rewarded one lakh taka at the buy of 87 taka only

The 20th lottery draw for Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) challan has been held. Purchase receipts of those who made purchases using the EFD machine in the previous month were used as coupons in the lottery. A person from that area won the first prize by buying sweets worth Tk. 87 only from Well food in Chittagong. His EFD number was 003622QAZLC050. This information was given by NBR Member (Evaluation and Implementation) Moinul Khan while announcing the lottery numbers held at the conference room of National Revenue Board (NRB) on Monday (September 5). Member of National Board of Revenue (Customs Audit, Modernization and International Trade) Abdul Mannan Shikder presided over the event. In the event, it was informed that through electronic fiscal device (EFD) challan, VAT has come to the tune of Tk. 37 crore 61 lakh which is 25 percent more than this year’s revenue compared to August of the last financial year. In August of the financial year 2021-2022, the VAT through EFD was Tk. 16 crore 22 lakh. Invoicing has increased by 15 percent compared to August. The total invoicing in that month was Tk. 17 lakh 10 thousand, where against sales of 220 crore taka, VAT came to 16 crore 22 lakh taka. We think there has been a breakthrough in this sector. When 3 lakh machines are installed, more success will come in the long run. For this, there is a need to increase awareness. It was also informed at the event that three people have won the first prize in this year's lottery. Besides, 103 people got lottery prizes. The second winning lottery number is 001322TDTZDFX705. They received 50 thousand taka each. The third prize winning lottery numbers are 002322FTKECBD653, 001122SNBFEFL846, 000122HLRKXLB516, 000322GQRSLVJ457 and 000122HTEEMBP150. Their reward was 25 thousand taka. Besides, 93 people will be given 10,000 taka as the fourth prize. NBR chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Munim inaugurated EFD on August 25, 2019 to ensure transparency and accountability in VAT collection. EFD challan lottery draw was held for the first time on February 5 this year. And last month i.e. until August, NBR installed EFD devices in seven thousand 789 business establishments. This lottery is held to reward VAT payers through EFD machines. Lottery draw published on NBR website. Besides, the result will be published in the newspaper after three working days.
